Days after announcing they had given Jeff Fisher a contract extention the Rams fired him.  What a shit show in Los Angeles.

Don't worry about Jeff I'm sure he'll find another head coaching job somewhere.

The draft picks trade between the Rams and the Titans today is insane.  The only explanation I can come up with is the Titans are still paying Jeff Fisher.

Fisher spent 17 years with the Oilers/Titans organization and must still be collecting a check.  A check that made him talk the Ramd GM into trading six draft picks for three.

Michael Sam was signed to the Dallas Cowboys practice squad on Wednesday. Following the signing came the media blitz and questions about Sam.

I don't think it was the reason he was cut from the Rams, but Jeff Fisher did point out that the media was a distraction.  On Wednesday the head coach of the Cowboys, Jason Garrett, got a taste of the media frenzy surrounding Sam and he didn't seem to pleased with it, via Pro Football Talk:

“We’ve got to be careful about spending too much time on a practice roster player. We traded for a defensive end who’s going to be on our active roster, from Tennessee. We picked up a defensive lineman who we think is going to be on our active roster. So we tried to address the situation,” Garrett said.

Everyone gets the importance of Sam and being the first openly gay player in the NFL, but the nonstop questions may actually harm him.  Especially in a team sport where it's about team.

Sam still has a long way to got to make it on the field in an NFL game and hopefully the media doesn't get in his way.

Michael Sam was cut by the St. Louis Rams as they trim their roster down to 53. The Rams are stacked on the defensive line and despite a pretty good preseason the Rams have decided to part ways with Sam.

Sam proved he can play in the NFL, but with so many teams passing on drafting him, his NFL future is in question. Jeff Fisher held a press conference and among other things discussed cutting Sam.


You have to wonder if this was a straight SEC defensive player of the year would he have been first drafted so low and second cut.

UPDATE: Sam Bradford does have a torn ACL and is done for the year.

Sam Bradford took a shot to his left knee yesterday during the first quarter of the preseason game against the Browns.  It's the same knee that Bradford tore his ACL in last season.

After originally thinking Bradford had escaped reinjuring his ACL Adam Schefter is reporting that he may have reinjured the ACL.

Tony Dungy was on the Dan Patrick Show today to clarify his comments about Michael Sam.  Dungy did clarify his comments, but also managed to say, "I don't agree with his lifestyle."

Dan Patrick also managed to add that his thoughts about Sam, by saying he thought the NFL didn't want him to go undrafted and Jeff Fisher's role on the competition committee had something to do with it.
