Despite an inept Manager and a delusional General Manager the Yankees find themselves with a 44-44 record. Not ideal, but certainly could be much, much worse.
The .500 record has them 4th in a pretty tight race in the AL East. It also has them 5.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race. So yes they're down, but not yet out.
If you listen to the baseball "experts" who think they should put on an aging veteran clearance sale, you'd think they were the Angels or some other really shitty American League team.
With the Orioles on top of the AL East it's still a very wide open division. I highly doubt they have enough pitching to survive a homerun drought, which will likely happen at some point in the season.
The Yanks need some serious help but I'm not counting them out just yet.
