Is Anyone Really Surprised That Joe Paterno Put Football Over Sexual Abuse Allegations?

New information from previously sealed court documents claims Joe Paterno knew of sexual abuse allegations against Jerry Sandusky as early as 1976.

In fact one of the accusers allegedly told Paterno to which he replied he had football games to win, via ESPN:

"Is it accurate that Coach Paterno quickly said to you, I don't want to hear about any of that kind of stuff, I have a football season to worry about?" a lawyer for Penn State's insurance carrier asked the man. "Specifically, yes," the man replied.

"I was shocked, disappointed, offended, I was insulted," John Doe 150 testified. "I said, is that all you're going to do? You're not going to do anything else?"

He said Paterno then "just walked away."

The more that comes out about what Paterno knew and when he knew it the more you can't defend.  And I defended him early on.

I have ties to Penn State and part of it was I didn't want to believe that Paterno would just do nothing if directly contacted about an incident.  That appears as if that's exactly what he did.  I can't defend that.

I am surprised Paterno did absolutely nothing.  But I'm not surprised he put football first.  We see that shit time and time again, with whatever the scandal is.

It's all fucking disgusting.
